Coimbatore: 7-year-old repeatedly raped by her grandfather

A 65-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for repeatedly raping his seven-year-old granddaughter in Coimbatore. Her parents sell onions in the market, so, they used to leave their children at the grandfather's house. As the man's wife and son used to go out for work, he was left alone with the children.

COIMBATORE: A 65-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for repeatedly raping his seven-year-old granddaughter in Coimbatore. He was booked under Section 5 (l) (m) and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and sent to judicial custody on Saturday night.
Police said the girl lived in a rental house along with her parents and five-year-old brother.
Her parents sell onions in the market, so, they used to leave their children at the grandfather's house. As the man's wife and son used to go out for work, he was left alone with the children.
The man first raped his grandchild on June 26 at his house. He also threatened her not to reveal the incident to her parents. In the evening, the parents took the girl back home and again brought her to he grandfather's house next morning. Police said he repeatedly raped the girl till July 2. The girl, a Class I student, refused to go to his house on Friday morning and revealed the incidents to her parents. Following this, they approached the All-Women Police (East), Ramanathapuram.
