Pune: Bajaj Auto to continue production at Waluj plant
PUNE: Bajaj Auto has decided to continue operations at its Waluj plant in Aurangabad despite some fresh Covid-19 cases being detected at the unit.
The number of employees directly impacted by the virus was around 140 last week. "Of our three plants, Waluj is our largest operation and while there was no specific incident, we have identified Covid cases there, which have been dealt with as per standard protocols and in consultation with the authorities.
Given the nature of the pandemic, we believe that this may be a regular occurrence despite best efforts by the company and its staff," Rakesh Sharma, executive director, Bajaj Auto, told TOI over email.
He said the operations might be temporarily impacted during the extra sanitisation process.
The company said the plant attendance continued to be at 70%.
In June this year, the automaker sold over 75% of motorcycles compared to its sales in June 2019 driven by sales in urban and rural territories.
