DIBRUGARH: The civil works being carried out at the Baghjan blowout site prior to the final well capping operation has almost reached its final stage.
The work for placing the kill pumps near the debris laydown area was completed on Friday night along with the placement of a high discharge water pump near reservoir 1. On Saturday, a second bulldozer was transferred to the site, while one additional water transfer pump set was transferred to pump station 2 located near the Dangori river.

"Civil work for placing kill pumps near debris laydown area was completed at 11.30pm on Friday. Civil work for placing high discharge water pump near reservoir no-1 is also completed. Transferring of OIL CMT pump is in progress. Other equipment and materials are being transferred in a phased manner depending on requirement and site condition," OIL said in a statement on Saturday.
The works for deluge water supply at the blowout site has also been completed and refilling of water reservoirs are being carried out by workers.
"All arrangement for deluge water supply has been completed. However, we are not able to use a part of it as the area in the pontoon bridge side is inundated with floodwater. For more reliability, one more OIL CMT high discharge water pump will be placed near reservoir no-1 (12000 KL capacity). Testing of ONGC CMT pump no-3 is in progress. Other standby equipment and accessories are ready for water filling and jacketing. Depending on requirement, fabrication and repairing jobs are being carried out at the temporary workshop created near the site," the statement added.
Meanwhile, all debris beyond a 30-metre radius of the well centre has been removed and is being transferred to a designated dumpyard.
