Missing… Inia Tabutabu.

Fijian-born Inia Tabutabu, 32, has been missing in France since May 30.

Mr Tabutabu last spoke to his partner Luiseini Nukuvuka on Facebook while he was on a campsite in Valle de la Barousse.

He worked at Airbus as a Quality Service Agent for five months before his contract expired and had been traveling around France.

He has spent more than a decade abroad.

On their last conversation he said “I love you” to her and a throw kiss.

Ms Nukuvuka said that on May 31st she woke up and happily sent him a good morning text, but has never received a response.

“He told me that as soon as the borders open, he would return to Fiji and we were praying about it every time we speak,” she said.

“We have never gone a day without speaking so when he did not return my messages and calls on May 31st I started panicking and reached out to his friends to check on him, but they said it was too far.”

She said she feared for Mr Tabutabu’s life because he had not been eating for a few days before his disappearance and was going through a tough time.

“I don’t know how he disappeared, but I will not rest until we know what happened to him.”

His mother Eka Tabutabu, 64, said the family would reach out to the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Yogesh Karan for his assistance and also the French Embassy in Fiji.

Mr Tabutabu went to France in 2008 and joined as a soldier in the French Legion. He has not been to Fiji since.

The Tabutabu family remains hopeful that he is alive and well.

Mr Karan said yesterday that he was not aware of Mr Tabutabu’s disappearance, but he will look into it today.
