DSWD 7 starts payout to waitlisted SAP beneficiaries for C.Visayas

CEBU CITY -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VII here has started the pay out to more than 149,579 waitlisted beneficiaries of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) cash aid and other subsidies to poor families in Central Visayas.

According to DSWD-7 Regional Director Rebecca Geamala, 1,227 families in the waiting list in Cebu province have already received their cash aid of P6,000 per family-beneficiary, specifically in the towns of Consolacion, Compostela, Oslob and Liloan, in June.

Geamala said that these waitlisted beneficiaries were eligible low-income families which were not included in the first tranche of emergency subsidy given by the national government.

Some 585,376 estimated low-income households in Cebu province and highly urbanized cities were initially qualified for the second tranche which is equivalent to about P3.5 billion, she added.

The DSWD has also credited, on June 11, the emergency cash subsidy through SAP for the 147,406 Pantawid ng Pamilyang Pililipino Progam (4Ps) beneficiaries with cash cards in Cebu, and currently ongoing payout of the second tranche to 2,136 Pantawid non-cash holders for the SAP in Cebu Province.

Meanwhile in Bohol, the Social Welfare and Development (SWAD) Office headed by Rhea Maria Tubongbanua has submitted a list of 30,673 eligible families/beneficiaries which were waitlisted for the emergency subsidy program under the SAP.

Tubingbanua clarified that it was up to the national DSWD to decide whether every one in the list or only some would benefit from the government’s cash assistance based on further validation of documents for the second tranche payout.
