Nearing 7 lakh COVID-19 cases, India surpasses Russia as third worst-hit country

With 24,248 fresh positive cases and 425 deaths in the last 24 hours, India’s tally of COVID-19 cases has reached 6,97,413, said the Union Ministry of Health on Monday morning, July 6.

With this, India, surpassing Russia, has now become the third worst-hit country as several states, including Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh. Karnataka and West Bengal, recorded their highest single-day spike. While 424433 are cured cases with 19,693 deaths, the active number of cases in India stands at 253287. The country, for the third day in a row, has reported more than 20,000 Coronavirus cases.

As per Worldometer that compiles the COVID-19 data from around the globe, US has 29,54,999 cases, followed by Brazil with 15,78,376 cases and Russia with 6,81,251 infection cases.
