The East Berkshire Football League (EBFL) is planning to host an ‘all star’ game in aid of the Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust as soon as it’s safe to do so.
A representative EBFL side are set to take on last season’s unbeaten Premier Division champions Old Windsor at Burnham FC’s The Gore.
The date is yet to be confirmed due to COVID-19 restrictions. Each member club is likely to put forward at least one player for the EBFL team.
A statement on the EBFL website said: “The East Berkshire Football League is extremely grateful for all the selfless hard work done by Berkshire Healthcare to battle COVID-19 in these difficult times and we want to give something back.
“When it is safe for football to return, the League will host a match to raise funds for Berkshire Healthcare. The match will see Old Windsor Football Club (our current champions) play an EBFL Representative Side at Burnham Football Club on a Friday evening.
“Our member Clubs have been asked to donate for a player to feature in the representative side while Burnham FC has agreed that all gate receipts and bar takings are to be donated to the NHS.”
A JustGiving page has also been set up by the league for donations. Click here to help support the fundraising initiative.
