Kolkata's Super Dog donates blood to save canine life
Blood donation camps for human beings are nothing new. But there are not many similar initiatives for our four-legged friends. They too need blood to battle their ailments and many dogs die due to the lack of supply. In a welcoming move, actor Anindya Chatterjee took his Labrador, Siya, whom he calls his second daughter, to donate blood for a 13-year-old Spitz, Danny, who came from Chennai with his humans.

Danny’s human parents sought medical help for his kidney problem. “He has chronic renal failure and as a result he needs blood. We don’t often get blood donors as there are limitations of awareness and also because the treatment is comparatively new in Kolkata. We are glad that we got a donor for Danny,” said Dr Debajit Roy, the vet at a city clinic.
Meanwhile, Siya acted pretty cool, said Anindya, a proud pet parent. “She smartly went and donated blood, that too, without wearing a muzzle. It took her around 15 minutes. I’m proud today because of her. She has helped a couple save their pet,” the actor said.
