The number of COVID-19 cases in Mumbai spiked by 1,201 to 85,326 on Monday while the number of deaths rose by 39 to 4,935, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.
A total of 1,269 patients were discharged from various hospitals in the last 24 hours, taking the number of the recovered cases to 57,152, the BMC said in a release.
Mumbai now has 23,249 active cases.
A total of 762 new suspected cases have been admitted in hospitals, the BMC said.
Mumbai's recovery rate now stands at 67 per cent while the doubling rate of cases stands at 44 days, the BMC said, adding that the overall growth rate of cases is 1.60 per cent.
As per the BMC data, K-East, G-north and P-north wards have over 5000 cases each.
The K-East (Andheri East) ward has 5,715 cases, G-north (Dadar, Mahim and Dharavi) has 5,217 cases while the number of cases under P-north (Malad) ward is 5,129, it said.
The B ward (Dongari) has the lowest 799 cases. The number of active cases in E ward (Byculla), which had recorded 3,336 cases, is just nine, followed B and C wards with 229 and 267 active cases, respectively.
The highest number of 382 deaths had been recorded in G-north ward and the lowest 48 in A ward, the civic body said.
On Tuesday, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will inaugurate four new temporary COVID-19 treatment facilities situated at Mahalaxmi Racecourse, Dahisar, Mulund and Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC).
They collectively have the capacity of 3,520 beds.
