ALABAMA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS CONFIRMS PASSING OF TUTWILER STAFF MEMBER

An employee at the Julia Tutwiler Prison for Women located in Wetumpka, Alabama recently passed away after testing positive for COVID-19.  According to the Alabama Department of Corrections, this marks the department’s second staff death pertaining to COVID-19.

The ADOC’s Office of Health Services found there are 84 currently active COVID-19 cases amidst ADOC staff.  The recently deceased staff employee was one of three ADOC staff members that began self-quarantining after testing positive for the virus.

The ADOC also found 43 currently active COVID-19 cases among their inmates.  Five of these cases were recently found in Staton Correctional Facility, St. Clair Correctional Facility, and Easterling Correctional Facility.  The department is maintaining every one of their current quarantine protocols in these facilities.
