"It's going to be a learning curve each day," Silver Creek head football coach Dave Papenhaus said. "I'm sure we'll adjust on the fly a little bit and streamline some things but, we're trying to go by the book."

The team added safety measures such as having players sign a waiver and also increased sanitation efforts, with the goal of having a 2020 football season.

For the players, they're glad to be doing something active.

"I've been looking forward to it all day," Silver Creek wide receiver/defensive back Trey Schoen said. "I've honestly been laying around, maybe working out every so often, but I just need something else to do other than -- you can only play video games for so long."

His teammate, fellow junior Myles Roundtree, added, "Just be able to see people again, and kind of communicating from just being in the house all summer."

Although it's not guaranteed the Dragons or any other team in the Hoosier state will play in the fall, the only thing the Silver Creek football team can do is remain optimistic.

"Hopefully we get to keep going and it's not just a couple weeks of and then shut it all down," Papenhaus said. "Hopefully everyone's doing what the government is saying we need to do and we can continue on and start getting back to normal."

The team says they're two months behind where they would normally be but the players say that when they take the field in late-August, it'll hit different.
