BENGALURU/MANDYA: Chief minister BS Yediyurappa on Monday ruled out imposing a fresh lockdown or new restrictions in Bengaluru, despite cases spiking in the tech capital.
“The government has taken all necessary measures to contain the spread of the virus and people need not worry,” the CM told reporters in Bengaluru. He also appealed to people not to panic and leave Bengaluru.
“We should all learn to live with the virus. You maintain social distancing and follow whatever guidelines the government has released. That will do,” he said.
Deputy chief minister CN Ashwath Narayan, in Mandya, also ruled out imposition of another lockdown in the state, declaring it is not the answer to fight Covid-19. “By imposing a lockdown, we will be only postpone the problem,” he said. Narayan also denied community transmission was on.
Reacting to opposition leader Siddaramaiah’s allegations of corruption in purchase of medical equipment, Yediyurappa earlier said: “Making allegations without evidence is not good. If there is any truth in the allegations, I will not spare those who are involved.”
