Woman PCS officer ends life in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia

A PCS officer and executive officer of Maniyar Nagar Panchayat Manimanjari Rai (30) committed suicide by hanging her with the ceiling of her room in Awas Vikas Colony under the limits of Kotwali police station in Ballia district on Monday late night.

VARANASI: A PCS officer and executive officer of Maniyar Nagar Panchayat Manimanjari Rai (30) committed suicide by hanging her with the ceiling of her room in Awas Vikas Colony under the limits of Kotwali police station in Ballia district on Monday late night.
The incident came to light when locals saw inside her room on finding the windows opened on Tuesday morning and alerted police.
ADG Varanasi zone Brij Bhushan said, “She had left a suicide note in which contained two-three lines. In it she had alleged that she had been falsely implicated with political motivation. As she had not cleared that who had implicated her police will investigate this matter to know it.”
Rai, a native of Bhanvarkole in Ghazipur district, had been posted as EO of Maniyar Nagar Pannchayat for past two years and she dwelt in a rental house in Awas Vikas Colony. She was alone at home on Monday night. On Tuesday morning, her neighbours saw the window of her room opened when they tried to know reason for it. On seeing her body hanging with the ceiling of room they immediately alerted Kotwali cops.
On getting information the district magistrate Ballia Hari Pratap Shahi, SP Devendra Nath, nayab tehsildar Jaya Singh, EO Bansdih Sima Rai and many other officials reached the spot while forensic experts were also called. During initial investigation the cops recovered a suicide note. In it she had said sorry to her brother and parents taking harsh step. The note also contained, “I came safely from cities like Delhi and Mumbai but here she had been falsely implicated with political intentions.”
Later, police sent the body for post-mortem.
