Apple AirPods 3 may borrow a feature from AirPods Pro

Apple’s truly wireless earbuds, the AirPods and AirPods Pro have seen huge success around the world. After AirPods Pro, the lineup is only expected to grow. According to noted tech analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the next product in the AirPods lineup, most likely to be named AirPods 3, will feature the SiP technology, ditching the surface mount technology (SMT), reports AppleInsider.
The AirPods Pro came powered with the SiP technology. What makes it special is that it lets the manufacturer pack more components into a compact space when compared to SMT. Equipping the inside of a true wireless earbud is a challenge when you have to incorporate Siri’s voice commands and take care of noise cancellation, connectivity, battery etc within their compact size. Apple, it seems, would stick to the SiP technology only for the upcoming AirPods product, as it helps in reducing the form factor of the earbuds.
As per the report, Kuo also notes that the component shipments of the AirPods Pro part suppliers would see an uptick, ranging from 50-100% year-over-year. As such, the inclusion of SiP technology in the next AirPods product will benefit companies like Amkor, JCET and Huanxu Electronics and also Shin Zu Shing, that makes AirPods case hinges. Button cell battery and case battery suppliers Varta and Sunwoda and assemblers Goertek and Luxshare are expected to benefit, as per the report.
Ming Chi-Kuo earlier predicted that the Apple AirPods 3 may come in the first half of 2021. Kuo, as per a report by 9To5 Mac, in his research report noted that the AirPods 3 will boast a design which is similar to the AirPods Pro. Though it hasn’t been mentioned, it is unlikely that the new AirPods 3 will have active noise cancellation.
