Kourtney Kardashian has finally opened up about her decision to step away from her family's 'toxic' reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

The 41-year-old television star, who appeared on the show for over 13 years, recently revealed that she would be limiting her presence in front of the cameras.

Speaking to Vogue Arabia, the mum of three has since explained that her decision was spurred on because it had become a 'toxic environment'.

During her interview and cover shoot, that took place at the star's Los Angeles home, Kourtney admitted that she had been left feeling 'unfulfilled' by her role on the show.

"I have been filming the show non-stop for 13 years, 19 seasons and six spin-off seasons," she told the Vogue team.

"I was feeling unfulfilled and it became a toxic environment for me to continue to have it occupy as much of my life as it was," Kourtney added.

The American media personality also went on to explain that she cherished her privacy, which was proving difficult while in the media eye.

She added: "Privacy is something I have come to value and finding that balance of private moments with being on a reality show is hard.

The Poosh founder, who also shared a hand written note on the front of the Vogue cover, also addressed her approach to work.

"People have this misconception that I don’t want to work, which isn’t true. I am following my happiness and putting my energy into that which makes me happy,” she told the publication.

She went on to explain that she tries her hardest to avoid her phone when she's around her children - Mason, 10, Penelope, seven, and Reign, five - and tries to keep one day a week free without any plans.

“I always try my absolute best when I’m with my kids not to be on my phone, to be present in what we’re doing, and have those moments where you’re looking in each other’s eyes and connecting. It’s so important,” she added.

Kourtney's gradual departure from the show came after tensions among the famous siblings came to a head during an episode of KUTWTK.

In one episode, that aired earlier this year, Kim and Kourtney were filmed embroiled in a physical fight that left the cast stunned.

The mum of three has since taken a step back from filming, and revealed that she would be choosing what filming she appeared in.
