Visakhapatnam gas leak: CEO, 2 directors of LG Polymers arrested

The state government has started action against the LG Polymers Private Limited (LGPI) as the cops arrested 12 people including the CEO and two directors of the company on Tuesday in the styrene vapours leakage incident.

VISAKHAPATNAM: The state government has started action against the LG Polymers Private Limited (LGPI) as the cops arrested 12 people including the CEO and two directors of the company on Tuesday in the styrene vapours leakage incident.
The action was taken by the city police 24 hours after the high power committee appointed to inquire over the leakage of styrene vapours in the plant that killed 12 people and hospitalized hundreds of people of around five villages.

It is recalled that styrene vapours leakage in the early hours of May 7 created panic in the city and nation was shocked after seeing the video footage of people slipped into the state of unconsciousness after inhaling the gas. Nine people were died within the hours of the leakage and the toll reached to 12.
City police commissioner Rajeev Kumar Meena confirmed the arrests of 12 persons of the LG Polymers plant, including the CEO and two directors. Cops would announce the arrests in an hour or two.
