HYDERABAD: Telangana has received bountiful rains in the last one month with the state recording 35 per cent excess rainfall from June 1 till date.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad the state has received cumulative rainfall of 245.5 mm against a normal of 182 mm from June 1 to July 8.
While southern districts such as Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Jogulamba Gadwal have received large excess rainfall (60 per cent above normal), northern districts such as Adilabad, Komaram Bheem, Mancherial have received normal rains so far.
Hyderabad figured in the excess rain list by recording 65 per cent rains above normal to the tune of 230.2 mm rainfall as against 139.7 mm from June 1 till date.
On Wednesday, the city received light rains of up to 20 mm in some parts. Kalavancha in LB Nagar received the highest rainfall of 20.5 mm followed by 15.5 mm in Telecom Colony in Alwal.
Despite majority districts receiving large excess rains, IMD, Hyderabad has stated that the southwest monsoon has been weak across the state. Meteorologists forecast that thunderstorms accompanied with lightning will occur at isolated places across Telangana on Thursday.
