Cat hit so hard that it's eye popped out in Mumbai; FIR lodged
Animal activists, who have rescued the severely injured cat (now named as 'Hope') lodged an FIR against one person at the BKC police station on Tuesday
MUMBAI: A local community cat was hit so hard with a wooden stick recently that one of its eyes popped out. The shocking crime occurred at Bharatnagar, Bandra (east), behind BKC police station, on July 5.
Animal activists, who have rescued the severely injured cat (now named as 'Hope') lodged an FIR against one person at the BKC police station on Tuesday. Activist Chinmay Nakhwa, who lodged the FIR, said: "We have identified the accused man named A Javed Ansari.
We are coordinating with the local police in order to get him arrested."
Activist Neha Nair informed: "After hitting the cat, Hope, the accused man had thrown hope inside a dustbin. A kind local resident had informed us about this brutal animal cruelty. We hope that hope recovers from this ordeal."
Activists have also thanked API Dinesh Chavan and his team for quickly lodging their complaint and taking further action. They also thanked Meet Ashar of PETA India for guiding them on how to legally take action on the perpetrator.
Police informed that the FIR was lodged under the IPC section 429 and section 11(1)(a) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. Further inquiry is on in this matter.
