A housewife is standing trial at the Dubai Court of First Instance after she physically assaulted a police officer.
According to public prosecution records, the incident took place on March 13 when the 29-year-old Asian woman slapped a police sergeant in the face and punched him in the neck.
She also grabbed his hand and pulled it out from the police car door.
A case was registered at Al Barsha police station.
Apart from assaulting an on-duty police officer, the housewife is also accused of verbally abusing him.
The police were responding to a call made by an Arab security guard at a nightclub in the Arabian Ranches. He reported an incident where three people were drunk and causing nuisance.
The housewife and two other men, one Asian, aged 34, and a 36-year-old, have all been referred to the Court of Misdemeanours for consuming alcohol without a licence.
During the public prosecution investigation, she admitted that she slapped the officer.
The security guard said he heard the woman verbally abusing the officer while she was drunk.
The sergeant got a medical report showing that he was left with neck and hand scratches and right knee pain.
A ruling will be issued on July 29.
