Bengaluru’s daily Covid tally now higher than Chennai, Mumbai

Once lauded for its efficient Covid-19 management, Bengaluru on Thursday reported more number of fresh positive cases in 24 hours than Mumbai and Chennai, which have been reporting huge number of infections for quite some time.

BENGALURU: Once lauded for its efficient Covid-19 management, Bengaluru on Thursday reported more number of fresh positive cases in 24 hours than Mumbai and Chennai, which have been reporting huge number of infections for quite some time. The state reported 17 deaths of Covid-19 patients, but its capital reported none.
Bengaluru reported 1,373 cases of Covid-19, followed by Mumbai 1,268 and Chennai 1,216.
Also for the first time, the state conducted more than 20,000 tests in a day. Among the state’s freshly infected were three babies, all 18 months old: Two from Dharwad and one Ramanagara. Karnataka — as also Bengaluru — reported its highest-ever fresh Covid-19 cases in 24 hours.
The state’s 2,228 fresh cases took its total number of the infected to 31,105. Bengaluru’s total infected count is 13,882. Karnataka’s fresh infections on Thursday was more than that of Delhi (2,187) for the second consecutive day.
