A joint team of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and the Special Task Force of West Champaran police shot dead four suspected Maoists in Lokaria area of Bagaha in the early hours of Friday.
An SSB personnel suffered minor injuries. Those killed have been identified as Alok Ram alias Vipul, a resident of Sheohar, Amarlal alias Vakul alias Dev, a resident of Darbhanga, Dipak alias Kiran, a resident of Samastipur, and Chootu Mahto alias Sonu, a resident of Valmiki Nagar.
SSB Inspector General of Police Sanjay Kumar told The Indian Express, “Alok was number two of his gang and faced several types of cases, including loot, extortion and engaging in disruptive activities.”
The SSB said the operation started late Thursday night, but the exchange of fire began around 4.30 am.
