Will Smith seemingly addressed his wife Jada Pinkett Smith's affair with August Alsina in a resurfaced video.
The 51-year-old rapper and Hollywood actor had told Jada, 48, to go "make herself happy" in footage that is believed to be filmed in 2018.
Will spoke about Jada looking to find what she really wanted from life and that their marriage may not have been the bed of roses that that public thought.
While playing a round of golf, Will candidly discusses the couple's marriage problems in self-shot footage.
The footage now has new meaning in the light of Jada admitting that she had an "entanglement" with August as the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star spoke about how he felt that he couldn't make Jada truly happy.
Speaking in the video, Will said: "Love. I asked her what was one of the biggest revelations she had had about love. She said, ‘You cannot make a person happy.’ I thought that was a real deep idea.
"You can make a person smile, you can make a person feel good, you can make a person laugh, but whether a person is happy is deeply, utterly and completely out of your control.”
Will added: “I remember the day I said to Jada, ‘I retire. I retire from trying to make you happy. I need you to go make yourself happy and just prove to me it’s even possible."
It is thought that this is referencing Will giving some kind of acknowledgement to Jada having an affair with August.
Will said that he and Jada struggled with the “false romantic concept” that their marriage should mean that they “become one.”
He went on to say that the solution to this was them to find happiness on “separate individual journeys.”
The actor continued: "We were going to present ourselves to the relationship and to each other already happy.
“Not coming to each other begging with our empty cups out demanding that she fills my cup and demanding that she meets my needs.”
The August affair was blown into the public domain after the 27-year-old singer claimed on June 30 that he had been in a years-long relationship with Jada and that Will had given it his "blessing."
Setting the record straight Jada brought herself to the table to reveal all for a special edition of her Facebook Watch show, Red Table Talk, on July 10.
Will admitted that around four years earlier, they had “decided that we were going to separate for a period of time."
It was during this time that Jada admitted she "got into a different kind of entanglement" with August and that she didn't feel there was any wrongdoing as she was separated from Will at the time.
