BHUBANESWAR: An 81-year-old person from Kandhamal district has won the battle against coronavirus after a 15-day ordeal.
Sources said the elderly man from Raikia block of the district, was undergoing treatment at a Public Health Centre (PHC) near his village after having influenza and cough. When his health condition deteriorated, he was shifted to a temporary medical centre (PMC) at Raikia on June 28.

The health staff collected swab samples from the elderly man as he was showing symptoms of Covid-19. He was found positive for coronavirus and shifted to Covid Hospital at Phulbani on July 4. His health condition gradually improved since July 8.
The man was discharged from the hospital on Monday. He expressed his gratitude to the district administration and staff of the Covid hospital. “During my treatment at Covid Hospital, doctors, nurses and other staff attended sincerely and took good care of me. I received good quality food in the Covid hospital," he added.
"This senior citizen is an example of hope and courage to several other Covid patients fighting against the coronavirus. In spite of his old age and various ailments, he defied the disease. Everybody should learn this from the elderly man to combat the disease in future," said a senior government official.
