The Emery County 4H organization has some upcoming events that they would love to get children involved in. Rowe Zwahlen, Extension Assistant Professor stopped by Castle Country Radio to share all the details of the events.

“So next week will be Junior Master Gardener, that’s one that I am in charge of. It’ll be the 14th, 15th and 16th in the morning for a couple of hours 10:00 am to 11:30 am I believe. It’s a lot of fun we get to do some science experiments, some crafts, everything garden related, so it’ll be fun – play in the dirt, play with some flowers and maybe some vegetables too,” said Zwahlen. This is a great hands-on opportunity for children to understand the basics of gardening.

The 4H organization has also been hosting yoga in the park for children. “That’s a fun one we’ve been doing for the last couple of weeks. We do it on Wednesday mornings – so we are appropriately distanced, everyone is spread out in the park but just come for an hour on Wednesday mornings at 10:00 am. So that’s the park right behind the county building by our office there,” stated Zwahlen. The address to the USU-Extension Office is 75 East Main Street, Room 114 in Castle Dale.

There is an upcoming Quilt Camp that is a unique way to be creative with fabric. “It is July 20 through the 23, that one is for 4H kids, actually we’ve got some older people that sneak in there too. The kids that do signup do need to bring a parent with them and they will need their own sewing machines,” said Zwahlen. Attendees will learn different quilting techniques to create a quilt they can be proud of.
