CBSE results: Girls outshine boys in most Gurugram schools
GURUGRAM: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared its Class 12 results on Monday and 88.8% of the students cleared the examination this year, a 6 percentage point jump from 2019. Just like the ICSE and state board results, girls outshone boys in terms of pass percentage – 92% girls and 86% boys who took the test passed.
CBSE, too, did not release a merit list this year.
Most schools in the city said their overall performance was better than last year. For instance, Amity International School in Sector 46 said its average score was 90.1%, with 28 of the total 316 examinees scoring a 100 in individual subjects and 42 getting 99.
Aakarshi Agarwal from the humanities stream of the school scored 98.4%. She shared the score with Dhruv Lowe and Kushagra Sahni, who studied science.
Similarly, Amity International School in Sector 43 said 57% of its students had scored more than 90%.
At Delhi Public School in Sector 45, the average score was 88.2%. A total of 217 students out of 416 who appeared for the exam scored more than 90%. Among them, Disha Mukherjee secured 99% in the humanities stream.
Disha thanked her parents and teachers. “We didn’t have any idea what this year had in store for any of us, especially board students. I’m glad I performed consistently well throughout the year and my teachers helped me to do well in the internal as well as board exams. Also, support from my parents was instrumental in achieving this feat,” said Disha, who wants to pursue psychology and work on mental health issues.

Students of Shiv Nadar School, too, performed well. Palak Modi, a student from the humanities stream, scored 98.8%.
The region-wise analysis of the results revealed that 98% of the examinees had passed the test from Trivandrum division. Panchkula division, which covers Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, had a pass percentage of 92.5%.
This year, CBSE could not conduct exams for all subjects and the results were declared on the basis of exams conducted before the Covid-induced nationwide lockdown. To maintain social distancing and because educational institutions are still closed, students won’t have to go to school to collect their results. They can download their marksheets using the Digilocker app.
The board has decided to put up its results on the Internet with the support of the National Informatics Centre and also provide the results through IVRS (interactive voice response system).
