NEW DELHI: The pass percentage of children with special needs (CWSN) has seen an increase this year to 91.68%. There is also a jump in the number of high scorers among them. The number of students who scored above 90% increased to 243 compared with last year’s 225. As many as 42 students have scored more than 95%. Last year, 36 students had crossed this mark.
A total of 2,475 students had appeared for CBSE’s Class XII examination under CWSN category.
Their pass percentage increased from 90.25% in 2019 to 91.68% this year. Trivandrum region has the highest pass percentage in this category as well at 97.77%, followed by Bengaluru at 96.83%. The lowest pass percentage is of Pune at 85.59%. Regions, such as Panchkula, Guwahati, Patna, Prayagraj, Dehradun, Chandigarh and Noida, had no students registered under this category.
The maximum number of CWSN appeared from the capital region — 813 from the Delhi east region and 603 from the Delhi west. Starting this year, there are two regions in Delhi.
Under this category, Delhi east region has pass percentage at 86.51%. Among them, 67% scored more than 90% and 13% above 95%. In Delhi west region, the pass percentage stood at 96.3%, with 34% scoring above 90% and 6% above 95%. Delhi east has the maximum number of students under this category who have scored more than 90% and 95% and above.
One of the top scorers, Palak Gupta ails from spastic hemiplegia. She has scored 96.25%. Due to the coronavirus-induced crisis, she was not able to appear for Home Science and Business Studies.
“I am happy with the results, but I believe I could have scored perfect 100s in all the subjects, instead of 97 in Home Science and 96 in Business Studies. My school was very helpful,” said Gupta of Amity, Saket.
