SURAT: Heavy rains lashed parts of south Gujarat region, including Navsari, Valsad and Surat districts on Tuesday.
Navsari's Jalalpore received highest rainfall of 105mm followed by 70mm in Choryasi taluka of Surat district. Palsana Valsad received 55mm rain, Navsari 70mm, Gandevi 40mm and Pardi received 55 mm rainfall. Palsana of Surat district received 45mm rainfall during the day.

Most parts of Surat city received a good spell of rainfall for the second consecutive day. Varachha (B) zone received highest rainfall of 65mm followed by 53mm in Limbayat, 50mm in Udhna, 47mm in Varachha (A), 44mm in Katargam, 43mm in Central and Athwa zone received 40mm rainfall.
According to agriculture department officials, sowing has begun in the south Gujarat region. As on Tuesday, sowing was completed in 3.16 lakh hectare area in seven districts of the region.
"All the 13 dams in south Gujarat are filled up to 47. 90 per cent capacity as on Tuesday. Due to rains in parts of the region, water inflow is increasing in these dams,'' said an official.
