NOIDA: Even as the additional chief secretary of the state health and family welfare department, Amit Mohan Prasad, inspected the new Sector 39 Covid hospital on Tuesday, the deployment of paramedical staff here has become a bone of contention between two senior health officials of Gautam Budh Nagar — the district’s acting chief medical officer and the hospital’s medical superintendent.

This is because the tender for the hospital’s manpower has been cancelled by acting CMO Nepal Singh. Instead, the district health society (DHS) at Singh’s behest has directed the private vendor agency for the district hospital in Sector 30 to provide over 240 para-medical as well as security staff for the Sector 39 hospital on contractual basis till a new tender is floated.
Dr Renu Aggarwal said, “I had prepared a list of medical and para-medical staff required for the new hospital in Sector 39 ,which is being turned into a Covid hospital now. The approval of that list came from the state government under the National Health Mission. But it has not been implemented.”
Instead the private vendor agency for the district hospital has been roped in to provide staff for the Sector 39 hospital. “This is despite the tender of the private agency not extending to the hospital in Sector 39,” she said.
While the acting CMO could not be contacted, Anil Kumar Singh, the chief development officer (CDO), said that the state government has given the staff deployment job to DHS governed by the district magistrate.
Suhas LY, the district magistrate of GB Nagar, told TOI, “Already 4-5 special experts have been hired for the hospital. A technician even displayed working of a ventilator machine to ACS Prasad on Tuesday. Regarding the deployment of para-medical and other staff, it is underway.”
Meanwhile ACS Prasad, who inspected the Sector 39 Covid hospital developed by the Tata group under the CSR drive, told officials of the district health department and the administration that the state government has a clear intention to locate and treat all Covid patients.
