CHENNAI: Kancheepuram district collector P Ponniah tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday.
He is the second collector to test positive in Tamil Nadu within a span of 24 hours, after Coimbatore district collector K Rajamani.
Ponniah underwent a test at a fever camp in the district two days ago and the result was out on Wednesday, two different sources from the revenue department told TOI.
Sources added that he has quarantined himself at his home based on medical experts’ advice and there was nothing to worry about his health condition.
Ponniah, 53, belongs to the 2009 IAS batch and joined as Kancheepuram collector in March 2017.
He is the second collector to test positive in Tamil Nadu within a span of 24 hours, after Coimbatore district collector K Rajamani.
