MALDA: Twin sisters Prachi and Prapti may not have made to the merit list, but their Madhyamik results have brought a strange air of happiness in the family. Both have scored 538 out of 700.
Though the marks for individual subjects were different, the total remained the same. “Never have I ever seen or heard of such a coincidence,” said an elated Prachi.
The daughters of the head clerk of Malda Women’s College, Pranab Ghosh Dastidar, Prachi and Prapti took Madhyamik from Malda Girls’ School this year.
Both followed the same routine while preparing for the boards. They also had same tuition. “Teachers often mistook our identity. Sometimes, one of us would get punished for the other person’s fault,”said Prapti.
Separated by only three minutes at birth, the happy duo share the same passion for dancing and painting. They also love to TV watch shows, like Didi No 1. “The two sisters are inseparable. When I rebuke one, the other intervenes,” said their mother, Archita.
Merit-wise, the two are not very different from each other. In their selection test, Prapti secured less than 60%, while Prachi got slightly higher. In Madhyamik, their venue was Krishna Mohan Girls’ School of English Bazaar.
While Prachi scored slightly better in Bengali, English, mathematics, physical science and geography, Prapti got higher in life science and history. Both plan to take up science in Class-XII.
“It is true that both scored more or less the same in school tests, but the same total is an excellent coincidence,” said Sutapa Chatterjee, their headmistress.
