GURUGRAM: The mayor has approved a budget of Rs 5 crore for the revival of ponds in three villages.
In a meeting with the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) commissioner and other officials on Wednesday, mayor Madhu Azad approved the allocation of tender for reviving ponds in Dhanvapur, Sarai Allwardi and Tigra villages. Several other development projects, including replacing old drinking water pipelines in Sector 9A and road repairs in Sector 52, have also been approved.
The mayor instructed the engineering wing officials to ensure that construction work is of good quality and is completed in a time-bound manner.
“Revival of ponds in these villages will improve the groundwater level of the areas around it and also help conserve rainwater,” Azad said.
In the meeting, commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh directed the officials to keep 10% of the total agreement amount for some of the works on hold and inspect the quality of construction work regularly.
“The commissioner has asked the officials to mention this condition in the agreement. The remaining payment will be released after the work is done. This is to ensure that development works are completed in a time-bound manner,” an MCG official said.
Other projects approved in meeting are construction of a road from Nilkanth Chowk to Totaram Chowk, a water supply boosting station in Narsinghpur and Kherki Daula villages, roads in Mohammadpur Jharsa and Surya Vihar.
