1,685 fresh Covid-19 cases in UP; 763 defeat virus in 24 hours

LUCKNOW: The state Covid-19 tally crossed 41,000 mark on Wednesday with 1,685 fresh cases in the past 24 hours. With 197 cases, Lucknow accounted for the maximum number of cases reported during the day.
Addressing reporters, additional chief secretary, health and family welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad said: “The number of active infection in the state as on date is 14,628.” A health data revealed that Lucknow is also home to maximum number of active infections in the state -- the number being 1,728.
Prasad stated that as many as 29 persons died because of the coronavirus infection. While Lucknow recorded four deaths, Amroha, Jhansi and Kanpur followed with three deaths each. Kushinagar, Unnao, Farrukhabad,Shamli, Fatehpur, Ambedkarnagar, Muzaffarnagar, Gorakhpur, Sultanpur, Sambhal, Ayodhya, Basti, Rampur, Moradabad, Firozabad and Saharanpur recorded one death each.
The health data revealed that 763 persons defeated the pandemic infection and returned to their homes, taking the total number of recoveries to 25,743 which were about 62% of the total cases. It also showed that cases were being reported in significant numbers from across districts. Districts of the Meerut division, including Ghaziabad (144), Gautam Budh Nagar (112), Meerut (67), Bulandshahr (23), Hapur (6) and Baghpat (5) accounted for 21% cases.
The other districts with double digit entries contributed nearly 38% cases.
Prasad stated that the house to house survey for Covid-19 surveillance concluded on Wednesday and the data will be processed. He added that the information on co-morbiditywill be shared with the team of national non-communicable diseases programme for follow up.
