Amethi self-immolation: Pre-planned conspiracy, claim police

A day after amethi district resident woman and her daughter attempted self-immolation at the gate of Lok Bhawan at Vidhansabha Road in Hazratganj, Lucknow police claimed it to a pre-planned conspiracy and efforts to malign the ruling government.

LUCKNOW: A day after Amethi district resident woman and her daughter attempted self-immolation at the gate of Lok Bhawan at Vidhansabha Road in Hazratganj, Lucknow police claimed it to a pre-planned conspiracy and efforts to malign the ruling government.
Lucknow police commissioner, Sujeet Pandey said that investigation into the matter has revealed that the victim women Safia (50) who suffered 60 per cent burns while her daughter Gudiya (28) who suffered 15 percent of burns were instigated for immolation attempt in front of Lok Bhawan by Amethi district president of All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) Kadir Khan.

Pandey also said that involvement of former leader of Congress party Anoop Patel has also been found along with Asma and Sultan both of Amethi district.
"All the four have been booked under charges of conspiracy and barring Anup all three have been arrested. Kadir is being brought to Lucknow," he said.
CP Lucknow also said that four cops including a sub-inspector posted with Hazratganj police station have been suspended for their role in conspiracy.
On Friday, around 5.30pm the duo women had reached the Lok Bhawan gate and doused themselves with some inflammable liquid on them before setting themselves afire. Seeing them engulfed in fire and crying, the cops present there rushed to the scene. They somehow contained the fire and rushed both to Civil Hospital.
