Teen boy found dead hours after Chopra girl’s death

Teen boy found dead hours after Chopra girl’s death
Chopra: Passions soared in Chopra again on Monday morning after the missing 16-year old boy, accused of the Boslampur girl’s unnatural death, was found dead in a ditch beside a small tea garden in the same village.
The boy, like the 16-year-old girl, was a Madhyamik passout. According to locals, they knew each other and possibly had had an affair though they belonged to different communities.

Locals fear the girl might have taken poison following a tiff with the boy, which prompted the boy to escape.
On Sunday, BJP had claimed the girl was “raped and murdered” by the boy after his bicycle and mobile phone were found near the girl’s body. BJP workers had blocked National Highway-31; five government vehicles, including two police vans, were torched. Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh, however, blamed police.
The girl’s post-mortem report, which came hours after the violent protests, indicated the cause of death as “due to poisoning”. It stated that there was no injury mark on the body, prompting police to rule out the rape allegation. Police, in fact, rounded up 15 people accused of Sunday’s arson.
The autopsy report, however, did not help pacify tempers. BJP’s Ghosh trashed it. “It is a doctored report, like it was following the murder of the Hemtabad MLA,” he said. At the press conference, Ghosh also mentioned that the girl was from a Hindu locality.

Taking the cue, BJP’s Raju Bandyopadhyay and party MPs Sukanta Majumdar and Nisith Adhikary reached Islampur on Monday. “We are not accepting the police theory of suicide. The Rajbanshi community had rejected Trinamool in the last Lok Sabha polls. Trinamool is acting in vengeance,” Bandyopadhyay said. “Two Rajbanshi girls were raped and killed in Dakshin Dinajpur. Our Hemtabad MLA was also killed last week,” he alleged and demanded an impartial probe into both incidents.
Amid the row, villagers spotted the boy’s body lying in a ditch close to the spot where the girl was found dead. Police’s attempt to recover the body sparked a commotion in the area. “From yesterday, BJP has been accusing a particular community for the girl’s death. But the boy was found killed. We fear BJP is behind this murder. The boy was killed and thrown into a pond,” local Jahid Alam Amin alleged.
Breaking down, the boy’s mother said: “Since last morning, my son was missing. Police had taken my husband but we could not find the boy. Today, his body was found. I want justice.”
A Trinamool team comprising MP Mousam Noor, ministers Goutam Deb and Golam Rabbani, and MLAs reached out to the victims’ families on Monday. “It is most unfortunate that we lost two young souls. Police are trying to unearth the truth and we have faith in police. But BJP is playing the communal card over this issue to create division among communities,” said Noor.
BJP’s Bandyopadhyay, however, stuck to his “rape and murder” claim. Asked about the boy’s death, he said: “A crime was committed yet again to suppress the truth. Police had been at that spot all day on Sunday. They couldn’t trace the boy or spot the body. How is it possible?”
