A woman dubbed the 'Queen of Crime' has been jailed again after racking up an astonishing 337 offences.

Claire Wilson, 46, from Cleethorpes, near Grimsby, has been imprisoned for a string of crimes over the years, including burglary and robbery.

She has now pleaded guilty to another case of burglary and theft after taking a wallet from inside a home and stealing a sandwich at a shop.

The serial thief, who has committed more than 200 theft or dishonesty offences, was jailed for 1,000 days, Grimsby Live reports.

Wilson was due to take centre stage in the first jury trial to be held at Grimsby Crown Court since lockdown restrictions were imposed in March.

But, in the end, she changed her plea to guilty to burglary and theft, although a charge of racially aggravated threatening behaviour, which she denied, was dropped.

Wilson's scheduled trial was supposed to have been the first at the court since the easing of restrictions to allow a gradual return of trials in very controlled conditions, designed to achieve social distancing.

But witnesses were spared having to give evidence after Wilson pleaded guilty ahead of a jury being sworn in.

The court heard that she went inside a house on Grimsby Road, Cleethorpes, under the influence of drink or drugs, at 5.30am on February 2 after claiming that she knew one of the men living there.

She was rocking from side to side on her feet and was repeatedly asked to leave but refused to do so and became increasingly aggressive.

Wilson did eventually leave but stole a wallet, containing three bank cards, from a window sill.

At 7.30am, she went to Cartergate News convenience store and stole a sandwich.

The shopkeeper was suspicious after spotting her with four bank cards and suspecting that they were not hers so told her that the card machine was not working.

Dale Brook, mitigating, said: "It's clear that her life has been blighted by drugs and her record suggests that."

She had suffered mental health problems and the death of her mother in 2017 but was motivated to change her ways. She was on methadone.

She had already been recalled to custody after breaching her licence following a jailing for three years and two months in June 2018.

"These are Covid times," said Mr Brook. "Time in prison is hard."

Wilson had convictions for 335 previous offences but, with the latest two, the total now moves to 337.

The tally includes more than 200 for theft or dishonesty, about 11 for burglary and a robbery offence in 2001.

Judge Ahmed Nadim told Wilson: "You have a shocking record. Your life has been blighted by drugs and other tragedies in life.

"You have appeared before the courts regularly and have been regularly sentenced by the courts to sentences of imprisonment.

"If this carries on, you are going to waste the most productive and meaningful years of your life behind bars and that would be a tragic waste of life. You have an atrocious record."

Wilson was jailed for 1,000 days - the equivalent of about two years and nine months.

When she was jailed in 2018, the court heard that day that she offered an elderly man sexual favours when she randomly knocked on his door.

But, when he refused the suggestion, she persisted and tricked her way into his home before stealing his wallet.
Wilson persisted after his initial refusal and said she needed to use the toilet.

He relented and allowed her to use the toilet but she followed him into the lounge of his Grimsby home. She was told to leave several times but refused.

Wilson walked away but was holding his wallet.

The man tried to grab it and eventually managed to get hold of it but £20 was missing.

Police found her in the area.

She also stole £45 cash from a woman's handbag in a burglary and stole another handbag.

Wilson admitted burglary and two theft offences on that occasion.
