Pregnant woman taken to hospital on makeshift boat in Bihar's flooded Darbhanga

A pregnant woman from ward number-3 of Ashrahah village under Keoti block in Bihar's Darbhanga district was taken to local primary healthcare centre (PHC) on a makeshift boat made by inflating a large size tube and putting wooden board on it on Tuesday. The village is severely flooded.

DARBHANGA: A pregnant woman from ward number-3 of Ashrahah village under Keoti block in Bihar's Darbhanga district was taken to local primary healthcare centre (PHC) on a makeshift boat made by inflating a large size tube and putting wooden board on it on Tuesday. The village is severely flooded.

. The woman was accompanied by her mother and some villagers, who were rowing the floating tube in chest deep water.
They later alighted the makeshift boat on the state highway near Khirma village, from where the pregnant woman was taken to a PHC in Keoti block.

The Circle officer of Keoti block Ajit Kumar said that the relative of the pregnant woman did not wait for arrival of boat arranged by district administration, which was then being used for distribution of cooked food in the nearby area. “By the time boat reached, they had left on the floating tube. The woman was treated and relieved from the PHC. Later she was sent back to her village with the help of SDRF team,” he said.
