PRAYAGRAJ: The tally of Covid cases in the Sangam City has crossed the 1,000 mark, and now Prayagraj district has the highest number of containment zones in the range.
In fact, containment zones in Prayagraj are more than 300% of the combined tally of Kaushambi, Pratapgarh and Fatehpur, the remaining three districts in the range. As per statistics revealed by the health department on Tuesday, Prayagraj district has 453 containment zones, followed by Kaushambi (66), Fatehpur (54) and Pratapgarh (25).
In Prayagraj, 298 out of 453 containment zones are in urban and semi urban areas and remaining 155 in trans-Ganga and -Yamuna areas.

Additional director, health, Dr Sudhakar Pandey told TOI, "More Covid-19 cases have been detected in urban and semi uban areas in Prayagraj and as a result, more containment zones have been created in urban pockets."
"We are focusing on collecting samples of primary and secondary contacts of Covid patients to contain the spread of the disease," he added. The rise in Covid cases has hit the recovery percentage of Prayagraj district. It dropped to 57% on July 20 from 72% on June 30. Till Monday, there were 1,017 cases in Prayagraj district, 273 in Kaushambi and 181 in Pratapgarh.
A total of 582 Covid patients got cured and were discharged from hospitals in Prayagraj while the figures were 177 and 118 for Kaushambi and Pratapgarh respectively. The recovery rate of Pratapgarh is highest at 65%, followed by 64% in Kaushambi and 57% in Prayagraj.
Meanwhile, a testing and sample collection camp was held at Civil Lines on Tuesday under the banner of Civil Lines Vyapar Mandal. Over 50 traders and their staff gave their samples for testing. President of Civil Lines Vyapaar Mandal, Sushil Kharbanda said "Around 50 traders and their employees having their units at Indira Bhawan gave their samples for testing today. Traders of civil lines and adjoining areas will give samples on Wednesday."
