Gujarat adds 1020 positive cases, 28 deaths in 24 hrs; State tally at 51,485, toll at 2,229

Gujarat on second consecutive day added 1,000-plus daily cases at 1,020 in 24 hours ending 5 pm on Wednesday. The state’s total tally is now at 51,485. Gujarat also recorded deaths of 28 Covid-19 positive patients, taking the state death toll to 2,229.

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat on second consecutive day added 1,000-plus daily cases at 1,020 in 24 hours ending 5 pm on Wednesday. The state’s total tally is now at 51,485. Gujarat also recorded deaths of 28 Covid-19 positive patients, taking the state death toll to 2,229.
It was only the third day in July where the state did not record a new highest daily tally.

The cases include 256 from Surat, 196 from Ahmedabad, 80 from Vadodara and 55 from Rajkot. With the update, Ahmedabad's total tally is 24,963, followed by 10,532 in Surat, 3,820 in Vadodara and 1,151 in Rajkot.
The deaths include 19 from Surat, three from Ahmedabad, two from Junagadh and one each from Botad, Dahod, Mehsana and Vadodara. With the deaths on Wednesday, Surat crossed the death toll of 300 as the district’s toll has reached to 309.
As on Wednesday evening, Gujarat has 12,016 active cases, which is 23.3% of total Covid-19 positive cases so far. The share of deceased and discharged patients is 4.4% and 72.3% respectively. In July, the active cases have increased by 73% from 6,928.
A total of 837 patients were discharged in 24 hours, taking the total to 37,240. The discharges include 212 from Ahmedabad, 161 from Surat, 117 from Bhavnagar and 41 from Vadodara.
Gujarat carried out 14,024 tests to find new Covid-19 positive cases, taking the total to 5.76 lakh. As on Wednesday evening, Gujarat has 3.33 lakh persons under quarantine, out of which 3.31 lakh are under home quarantine. The number recorded a sudden drop from the figures of 4.16 lakh and 4.13 lakh respectively.
