Pudukkottai SP issues notice to 35 inspectors, SIs
TRICHY: Pudukkottai district superintendent of police gave notice to 35 police inspectors and sub-inspectors on Tuesday seeking clarification on their failure to address law and order issues in their respective station limits.
Pudukkottai superintendent of police L Balaji Saravanan had formed two teams to crack down on sand mining activities and illegal sales of products such as lottery tickets, ganja and liquor in the district.

Each team, comprising four constables and sub-inspector, patrolled across the district over the last week, filed cases, carried out arrests and submitted a report to the SP.
Based on the report, the SP issued notice to the officials concerned seeking an explanation for failing to curb such illegal activities.
They have been asked to respond within three days. Action is expected to be taken on the basis of their reply.
The SP termed the move a measure to keep the police personnel in check and a test for them to remain vigilant.
