SECUNDERABAD: Residents of Secunderabad will no longer have to travel to
Gandhi Hospital or any other government facility as
the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) is set to commence Covid-19 testing facility at four more locations from Wednesday.
Following representation from the residents, the SCB is all set to start Covid-19 testing services at Secunderabad Cantonment General Hospital in Bolarum, Rasoolpura community hall, girls school in Marredpally and
government school opposite the post office in Lal Bazaar.
“We had started Covid-19 testing at ward 6 in Tadbund recently. Now, we are extending it to four more locations in liaison with the state government for the convenience of people. Close to 50 tests will be conducted every day,” said J Ramakrishna, vicepresident, SCB.
In a
related development, Bolarum residents had approached the government to convert Secunderabad Cantonment General Hospital into a Covid-19 testing facility. In a representation submitted to authorities, including those from the SCB, members of the Federation of New Bolarum Colonies Welfare Association (FNBCWA) sought Covid-19 testing facility, recruitment of medical staff, increase in number of beds and an ambulance for the general hospital. “In the last few years, the hospital has again moved into partial services due to lack of development funds,” said
Murali Krishna, president, FNBCWA.
