Diners will be able to enjoy a bargain bite to eat from next week as the Government's meal deal scheme launches.

Restaurants will be able to offer customers up to 50% off their food - capped at a maximum discount of £10 per head - as part of the Eat Out to Help Out initiative.

The offer is available every Monday to Wednesday throughout August, and also applies to soft drinks.

You'll have to pay full price for any booze you buy though, and the discount doesn't apply to takeaways or service charges.

Launching on August 3, the scheme aims to encourage people back into restaurants and bars to help the hospitality sector recover from the impact of lockdown.

Diners can use it as many times as they like during August, and restaurants will be reimbursed by the Government for the deal.

You don’t need a voucher to use the scheme and you can use it at the same time as other offers and discounts, with no minimum spend.

Many restaurants are throwing in their own deals too to make your money go even further.

High end steakhouse Hawksmoor has launched a £20 rump steak and chips deal, for instance - meaning you can tuck in for just a tenner when you dine there Monday to Wednesday.

Cult burger bar Almost Famous is also introducing a meal deal including any of its burgers with fries, wings and a large soft drink for £10 once the discount is applied.

You can enter your postcode below, then select 'View On InYourArea', to find participating restaurants near you - but we've also trawled through them to bring you all the city centre establishments registered so far, below.

Booking is advised, and diners should check with their chosen restaurant for details of its opening days and times before making a visit.

Not all those listed will be open for the full Monday to Wednesday stretch, and others have not yet reopened but will open later in August in time to implement the deal.

Jane Sharrocks, chairwoman of Manchester Business Improvement District, said she hoped the scheme would coax more people back into the city centre midweek.

“We are seeing more and more people returning to the city centre as the Manchester’s recovery continues," she said.

"The Eat Out to Help Out scheme in August will be a welcome boost for our many food and drink venues and will support midweek trade."

You can find details of more chain restaurants registered for the scheme throughout the UK, including Manchester, here.

If you've registered your city centre business for the scheme and it's missing from this list, please email us at citylife@reachplc.com and we'll get it added.
