Telangana: Singareni Collieries Company Limited commissions 30 MW solar power plant
HYDERABAD: The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has completed a 30 MW solar power plant at Manuguru and synchronized to the grid on Thursday. This is part of the 129 MW solar plants planned by the SCCL in the first phase. The coal mining agency has planned solar plants to generate 300 MW in various parts of Telangana.
SCCL chairman and managing director N Sridhar said a 10 MW solar plant at Jaipur in Mancherial district was commissioned and now with the start of the Manuguru plant, 40 MW of power is being supplied to the state grid.

He said the balance plants would come up at Ramagundam 3 area with 50 MW capacity and another 30 MW at Yellandu area will be started in the next two months. Though the construction had slowed down due to the coronavirus pandemic situation , Manuguru plant was completed by taking all precautions, the CMD said.
The SCCL chief said construction of Manuguru solar plant was taken up near old manuguru village in an extent of 150 acres with an investment of Rs 125 cr. He said one lakh solar panels have been arranged in the plant. Construction was taken up by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL). The 50 MW power generated at this plant would be supplied to the local 220 kv substation and a separate substation was constructed to join this with the grid.The company is likely to earn Rs 11 crore from this station.
Sridhar said Adani company is constructing another 90 MW capacity power plants in the second phase at Bhoopalapally (10MW), Mandamarri-Bellampalli (43MW) and 37 MW plant at Kothagudem. Construction of Bhoopalapally has already started. All the plants will be completed by the end of this year, he said. The CMD said floating solar power plants are also planned on Singareni thermal power plant water reservoir and also on dorli open cast quarry reservoir Officials informed that tenders would be called for the third phase and contractor would be finalised soon.
The management has decided to construct a 500 MW floating solar power plant on the large water bodies in Telangana state. A proposal has been drafted with the help of TS Renewable Energy Development Corporation of the state government. This proposal would be submitted soon to the state government for permission. Along with the permission ,if agreement is also made for the sale of power, Singareni is ready to construct these plants. SCCL CMD, Sridhar said that Singareni was trying to generate 800 MW solar power to meet the power needs of the state .
