Coronavirus in Virudhunagar: Number of containment zones goes up

MADURAI: Virudhunagar district which has the highest number of active cases in southern Tamil Nadu has 177 containment zones.
The district has been recording more than 300 cases on a daily basis.
Rajapalayam municipality has 40 containment zones which contributes majorly to the hike in Virudhunagar.
The district recorded 7,865 cases in the last four months and had 2,823 active cases as on July 30.
The district reported 84 deaths.
Among the containment zones, Rajapalayam block recorded 40 cases followed by Virudhunagar municipality with 37 cases and Aruppukottai 35. Cases in other blocks: Srivilliputhur - 7, Watrap - 11, Sivakasi - 9, Vembakottai - 11, Sattur - 9, Thiruchuzhi - 12 and Kariapatti - 6.
