HYDERABAD: Ramagundam MLA Korukanti Chander of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi has tested positive for Covid-19. The legislator from Peddapalli district in Telangana said he had got himself tested after Ramagundam mayor Ani Kumar had tested positive a week ago. Both had participated in a tree-planting programme ‘Vanamahotsavam’ in Singareni collieries, Ramagundam.
“I am in hospital and recovering.
I hope to be back to serve you,” the 48-year-old MLA told people of his constituency through a video message. Korukanti Chander got himself admitted to a hospital in Hyderabad a week ago after he tested positive. The MLA said he would be away from people for at least another 10 days. In the situation of the spread of Covid, he urged people to take all precautions. He put up a Facebook post on Monday informing that he had been infected in Covid. “There is nothing to worry about my health,” he said. “Some people are talking saying that I have gone missing and spreading some misinformation about me. This is to inform that I am in the hospital,” he said, explaining the reason for making the video.
The MLA said the virus had now come to a ‘community spread’ as people were getting infected without knowing from where they were getting affected. “In these circumstances, we should take more precautions. The government is doing its best but people should take care,” he said.
Another TRS MLC Naradas Laxman Rao has also tested positive for Covid.
