Gujarat: Earthquake of 3.3 magnitude hits Bharuch town

An earthquake of 3.3 magnitude on the Richter Scale shook parts of Bharuch town and nearby areas of Gujarat with its epicentre in Jhagadia taluka on Monday evening.

SURAT: An earthquake of 3.3 magnitude on the Richter Scale shook parts of Bharuch town and nearby areas of Gujarat with its epicentre in Jhagadia taluka on Monday evening.
Residents in Bharuch town, including Panchbatti, Katopar Bazaar, railway station area, etc rushed out of their houses, shops and commercial complexes after the quake was felt.

According to the Institute of Seismological Research (ISR) at Gandhinagar, the tremor was recorded at 5.20pm of 3.3 magnitude on the Richter Scale.
The epicentre was located seven kilometres from Bharuch town at Mulad Govali village in Jhagadia taluka.
District collector of Bharuch, Dr MD Modiya said, “Quake of 3.3 magnitude hit Bharuch town in the evening, but there were no reports of any damage to life or property. The epicentre was located 7 kilometres east-south-east of Bharuch town.”
