Currently, with no link between the two areas, people share auto-rickshaws between Noida’s Sector 62 and Indirapuram.
While most auto-rickshaw drivers are reluctant to take passengers on the route, others overcharge. Many people can be seen jaywalking in the area either trying to look for an auto-rickshaw or trying to cross to the other side. “Last year, we had finalised a design for the FOB connecting Indirapuram and Noida’s Sector 62. It was brought to our notice that a provision should be made to ensure that commuters travelling to both sides should have unhindered access,” said Mudit Garg, the deputy general manager of the NHAI.
“The FOB promises to take care of the problem ” added Garg The FOB is 82m long and 2.5m wide. It will have a 16m-wide ramp or staircase on both sides and will be at a height of 5.5m from the DME and NH-9 alignment. “The bridge would be equipped with lifts on both sides. Each lift would be able to accommodate 16 people at a time,” Garg said. “The superstructure has been installed and by November, we will open the FOB for public.”
He said NHAI will keep a provision to connect the FOB with Electronic City metro station. “The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation may connect the FOB with a 100m skywalk and it would give commuters direct access to Indirapuram.”
