Coronavirus unemployment Q&A: How does appeal process work?

Coronavirus unemployment Q&A: How does appeal process work?
PANDEMIC. IN YOUR CORONAVIRUS QUESTIONS, DONNA SAYS, "I HAVE FILED AN APPEAL RELATED TO MY UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS." SO WE ASKED EMPLOYMENT SECURITY DEPUTY COMMISSIONER RICHARD LAVERS WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR AN APPEAL? RICHARD LAVERS: WHO MIGHT BE DENIED FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER, THEY FILE AN APPEAL WITH THE DEPARTMENT. THOSE APPEAL INSTRUCTIONS ARE CONTAINED RIGHT ON THA DETERMINATION THAT THEY RECEIVED, WITH MULTIPLE WAYS TO INITIATE THE APPEAL, EITHER ON OUR WEBSITE, VIA EMAIL, OR B SENDING IN A LETTER INTO THE DEPARTMENT THAT INITIATES YOUR APPEAL. WE THEN CONTACT YOU REGARDING SOME ADDITIONAL INFORMATION WE NEED, AND THEN WE SCHEDULE THAT PERSON FOR A TELEPHONIC APPEAL. THEY SIT BEFORE AND DISCUS THEIR CLAIMS SITUATION WITH AN EMPLOYEE OF THE DEPARTMENT THAT IS AN EXPERT IN CONDUCTING THESE TYPES OF APPEALS. WE GET SOME ADDITIONAL INFORMATION, AND THEY ISSUE DECISION THAT WOULD GO OUT IN WRITING, AND THEN THAT INDIVIDUAL WOULD HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO INITIATE A FURTHER APPEAL FROM THAT DETERMINATION, IF THEY CONTINUE TO DISAGREE WITH THE DEPARTMENT’S DETERMINATION.
