Kerala rain live updates: Idukki landslide toll rises to 26; Red alert for 6 districts

At least 26 people have been killed and several are feared buried under the debris after a landslide due to heavy rain at Rajamalai in Idukki district. A Red alert has been issued for Idukki and all of North Kerala, including Malappuram, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod tonight according to the latest bulletin of the IMD. Rain lashed parts of Kozhikode in Kerala on Saturday evening. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued a red alert in the district for the day. It had also predicted rainfall in different parts of the state.

According to the official list prepared by the Idukki district administration, 23 persons have died in the landslide and four are admitted in the hospital, as efforts were under way amid continuing rains to locate those missing. Two teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have initiated search and rescue operations on Saturday morning.
