Rain lashed parts of Kozhikode in Kerala on Saturday evening. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued a red alert in the district for the day. It had also predicted rainfall in different parts of the state.
Outer bund of Kainakary Valiyathuruthu paddy filed in Kuttanad breached. It has affected paddy cultivation in 102 acres. Over 250 families to be shifted to relief camp on Sunday from the area.

Minister of state, external affairs, V Muraleedharan will visit flood-affected Rajamala area near Munnar in Kerala. Later he will be meeting those receiving treatment at hospitals. The minister will also speak to NDRF personnel who have been engaged in flood relief and rescue activities.

The weather update for the next three hours says that moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied with gusty wind speed reaching 40kmph is likely at one or two places in Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Pathanamthitta, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur & Kasaragod districts of Kerala and over Lakshadweep Islands.
IMD said that under its influence, scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy falls very likely to continue over Kerala & Mahe during next 24 hrs and isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy falls likely during subsequent 24 hours.
The well-marked low pressure area moved westwards and now lies over Northwest & adjoining Northeast Arabian Sea and neighbourhood causing reduction in rainfall activity over Gujarat state.
Monsoon trough is near to its normal position and continues to be active. Strong southwesterly/westerly monsoon flow prevailing over the Arabian Sea and along & off west coast at lower tropospheric levels likely to continue for next 2 days.
According to the official list prepared by the Idukki district administration, 23 persons have died in the landslide and four are admitted in the hospital, as efforts were under way amid continuing rains to locate those missing. Two teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have initiated search and rescue operations on Saturday morning.
