THANJAVUR: A sum of 25 lakh has been donated to the Government Raja Mirasdar
Hospital in
Thanjavur, on behalf of
Agaram Foundation, to purchase necessary equipment, establish additional facilities and paint the pediatric block.

Suriya started the Agaram Foundation to improve the socio-economic status of rural people in Tamil Nadu.
A cheque for the amount was handed over to health minister C Vijaya Baskar at a function held in Thanjavur on Saturday.
Film director R Saravanan, who has signed for an upcoming film with Suriya’s wife actress
Jyothika, handed over the cheque to the minister.
Minister Vijaya Baskar and district collector M Govinda Rao appreciated this gesture.
Agriculture minister R Doraikannu and Rajya Sabha member R Vaithilingam also participated in the event.
Jyothika visited the hospital in April for shooting. Later, at an event in Chennai, she expressed her concern over the way the Thanjavur hospital was maintained.
She had appealed to the people to come forward to donate to hospitals and schools.
